Jobline Staffing are recruiting for a permanent General Foreman to work for CORMAC within their Contracting Division.

The General Foreman will be assigned to individual major works and schemes where multiple teams and sub-contractors are engaged or to a group of works where the efficient resource management can be applied.

To drive the works programme through workforce planning, coordinating resources and supervising works teams to ensure that works are delivered on time and to budget. The General Foreman will provide leadership and be responsible for a total site safety culture, operate as safety champion, assisting in cost control, ensure consistent and fair application of procedures and productivity of crews on site. Further the role will manage the relationship with other contractors and sub-contractors along with the client representatives.

Responsibilities include:

·Provide leadership that results in a safe work culture and be responsible for the safety of assigned works teams

·To provide direction, leadership and support, holding assigned Sectional Foremen and Works Supervisors accountable for meeting their responsibilities, goals, and commitments

·Responsible for the coordination of work teams, translating general work requirements into a prioritised work plan for each work team and their efficient organisation of supporting resources

·Manage the operational staffing, materials and plant resource for the assigned site effectively and efficiently

·Assist line manager / engineers with programming and production of method statement

·Contribute to weekly meetings and Quarterly Forecasting regarding safety, progress, resourcing, costs and programme

·Be involved in and supportive of any day to day operational staffing decisions and to deal with staffing issues

·Ensuring the completed work meets the specification standards and for developing and implementing work processes to improve productivity and product quality

·Accountable for following project drawings and specifications and ensuring that the programmed tasks include all labour, plant and materials required

·Reviewing and adjusting task schedules to overcome work challenges/snagging to meet established production schedules

·Identify and report any programme conflicts to the appropriate persons

·Communicates and coordinates all trades and sub contractors to avoid and resolve conflicts

·Ensures timely intervention, response, actions and corrections to any safety issues and develops ongoing corrective procedures

·Identify the need for operative safety and staff skills training and facilitate the delivery in a timely manner

·Promote teamwork and harmony between all construction teams by fostering a positive attitude among all

·Participates in safety, work related and staffing incident investigations and reviews when requested

·Ensure all records, e.g. plant, delivery tickets, temporary works and permits are up to date and in place

·Ensure all statutory weekly or daily inspections are carried out, e.g. weekly safety and environment tours

·Preparation of reports and review of foremen’s reports as required by the employer including:

Ensuring Work Supervisor’s diaries are maintained

  • Reporting on production, work progress and change
  • Approving material requisitions
  • Completing quality control reports when required
  • Reviewing time sheets

·Comply with and utilise the performance management system and to contribute to improvement in working procedures.

Skills/experience required:

·Specialist knowledge in construction, construction maintenance, or engineering achieved by qualification (NVQ3 or above) or significant industry experience

·Proven successful experience as a site foreman/works supervisor

·CITB Site Managers Health & Safety qualification

·NRSWA Supervisors Certificate

·Site Management Accreditation through CSCS

·Demonstrable ability to read drawings and construct to them, work to a programme and keep written and electronic records

·Ability to work to timescales and under pressure
