Why do we need more satellites? Amie Fulton from University of Exeter Cornwall explains in an interview in today's Western Morning News. New satellite technology is developing at a increasing rate, and this life-changing tech needs to get into space. For example, the University is using improved satellite technology spatial recognition for a Satellite Tracking Sea Turtles programme. As the study develops and expands, constraints with existing satellite systems mean the demand for improved and bespoke data and GPS increases.
It is this demand for smaller, more innovative and efficient satellites across academia, industry and governments that drives the UK's requirement for a launch capability. And Cornwall can lead in doing this in a more sustainable way using horizontal launch from our existing airport.
